Messaging Guidelines

Take Action sends your message to your elected officials in your name. These guidelines keep those messages effective and keep American Voxpop's access to congressional offices open for every member.

Every message must

  • Be about the subject you chose. A message on a bill is about that bill. General demands such as "vote no on everything" are not accepted.
  • Be free of threats. No threats of harm to an official, their staff or their family, stated or implied. Strong disagreement is welcome; "kill this bill" is fine.
  • Be free of profanity. Mild words such as "damn" are fine.
  • Be readable and in English. Messages must be written in sentences, in English.

What happens when a message does not follow them

The message is not sent. You see the reason and can edit it and send again.

Repeated rejections in a short time pause Take Action sending for a few days. The pause ends by itself, and you see the date it ends.

Trial memberships

Take Action trials are for people exploring American Voxpop's mission and its Founders Framework analysis. Trial accounts whose messages mostly work against that mission may have sending paused.

Limits

Take Action has daily, weekly and monthly limits, and trial memberships have lower limits. When you reach one, you see which limit it is and when you can send again. Trial members see how many Take Actions they have left before they send.
